lebua at State Tower Bangkok Reviews -We stayed here for our final night in Bangkok. We were greeted with a most decadent lobby & exquisite surrounds. The check in process was a bit laborious & I was a little annoyed that they offered me an upgrade to river view room for $50. I said no & they went away & came back & gave it to me anyway. So they must've double booked or something. If you're going to give something away just give it!! The service, room, bathroom products etc are absolutely exquisite & the view from 54th floor amazing. Concierge(all of them) fabulous & can't do enough to help. Full of info.
The only disappointing part was that we are not the type to dress fancy. Esp when it's 40 & so humid. We felt like trash walking in with our shorts, polo shirts & sandals. The airport transfer costs 1700B when a taxi is 400B. A glass of mumm on the sky deck is 1800B when that should almost be a full bottle. I understand the concept of marking up prices but I hate just paying more in the interests of "being fancy" & then not being let onto the sky deck even though we were guests because we were too casual. I realize they have a strict dress code but then I saw a guy go in with filthy runners, jeans & long sleeve Tshirt. Yes he had long sleeves, pants and toes covered but is this who you really want in your fine dining area. To be then escorted " to somewhere more suitable" ie the 20th floor for pizza pasta by the pool left a bad taste in my mouth. When i saw the drink prices maybe it was a good thing. the dinner is minimum 6000B pp!! We thought we'd treat ourselves.
